A german Bundeswehr unit participating in the NATO’s KFOR mission visits the bear sanctuary.

In order to ensure funding, the formerly free-to-visit preserve introduced an entrance fee in mid-2015. Besides continuous maintenance, the money is also used to promote environmental protection and to raise awareness for animal welfare among the local population. The sanctuary’s staff regularly offers guided tours for school classes, tourists as well as locals and sometimes even for off-duty military troops. A work which pays back: in January 2017, the sanctuary received a one-thousand-euro-donation in food, enrichment toys and hardware from Danish Military troops deployed for the NATO's KFOR mission.
